Mr. Ivaylo Dermendjiev participated in an international arbitration conference in Skopje
Our Managing Partner Mr. Ivaylo Dermendjiev participated in an international conference on the much needed "Arbitration legislation reform to enhance the business climate" which took place in Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia, on 28 and 29 March 2019. The conference was organized by the Permanent Court of Arbitration to the Economic Chamber of Macedonia and included many international participants. Mr. Dermendjiev talked about the recent reforms of the Bulgarian arbitration legislation, namely - the elimination of public policy as grounds for setting aside an arbitral award and the inarbitrability of consumer disputes. He further opened the discussion over a potential reform of the New York Convention on the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards and the ongoing reform of the intra-EU Investor-State Dispute Settlement regime.
